What We Are (Not a Lender)
We are not a lender. We do not underwrite, approve, or fund loans. Our role is to educate VA-eligible borrowers and match them with VA-approved lenders. Partner lenders make all credit decisions and provide required disclosures. See Partner Transparency for our governance, partner criteria, and compensation practices.
What We Collect at VALN (Summary)
- Contact & context you provide: name, email, phone, city/price range, entitlement status, timeline, property type, and preferences you submit to help us match you with options.
- Usage & device data: IP address, page views, clicks, referrer, approximate location, and calculator/tool events (via cookies/analytics).
- Partner status updates: limited signals from lenders (e.g., preapproval issued, closed/withdrawn) so we can track service quality.
We do not pull your credit report or receive your FICO® score directly from a bureau. Partner lenders may obtain and use credit reports; their privacy policies apply to that processing.
How We Use Your Info (Summary)
- Matching & comparisons: to connect you with VA-approved lenders and standardize comparisons (APR, fees, credits, timelines, service).
- Operations & security: to run and improve the site, prevent fraud, and keep services reliable.
- Communications: to respond to your requests; optional marketing if you opt in (you can opt out anytime).
- Compliance: to meet legal obligations and enforce our policies.
How We Share (Summary)
- With partner lenders: when you ask us to match you with options.
- With service providers: hosting, analytics, email/SMS delivery, security, and CRM support.
- Legal/business: when required by law or as part of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer.
Advertising & Analytics
We do not sell personal information for money. We may share limited identifiers/usage data with ad and analytics partners (e.g., to measure campaigns or show relevant ads). You can control ads and cookies as described in our Privacy Policy and industry tools like the DAA and NAI. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required.
